SpeechRevision is a system with which you can send recordings and/or texts in English for correction by highly qualified native English teachers.
You will receive quality feedback that will help you progress with your spoken English.
The price of the service varies depending on the type of activity you submit for evaluation. We have a price section that will help you obtain more information.
The payment method is through PayPal. This platform also allows users to make payments with credit card
We believe that sharing the ideas is the best way to learn. In the same way that we are focused on helping our users improve and practise their English we are only too happy to receive constructive feedback to improve our service.
Please feel free to send us an email or get in touch with us via one of the social network platforms.
We use a starred grading system and you will be evaluation on the following categories of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and which will be broken down into subcategories. You will also receive a personalised comment from one of our teachers.
The evaluation will also include a database where grammatical mistakes and words you found difficult to pronounce will be stored. There will also be a progress bar chart to give you a more visual representation of your progress.
The use of a microphone is optional given that you are also able to choose your own preferred method of recording.
If you prefer to use the microphone, you should remember that you need to have installed the Flash Player plugin. Furthermore, this technology is not compatible with mobile systems (smartphones and tablets).
Yes, but you will not be able to use our own bespoke recorder to do this given that currently there is no technology that allows the recording from websites on mobile systems.
What you can do is record with a separate app and then upload your file to the relevant activity page.
If you choose to use the alternative record method (uploading your own recorded file), you need to take into account that if you recording exceeds the maximum amount of minutes specified on the specific activity page, we will only evaluate your recording up to the maximum recording time.
For example, if the activity is a 3 minute activity and your recording is 3 minutes and 32 seconds we will only evaluate 3 minutes.
The maximum recording time depends on the type of activity. It may be 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes.
Your audio recording will be evaluated within 48 hours of submitting it to us. When this period of time has elapsed you may check your profile page where you will find your evaluation.
If required we can send your evaluation within a period of 24 hours, however you will need to select the express option.
Absolutely, all of our evaluators are experienced professionals who are both native English speakers and qualified to teach English.
Furthermore, if you choose to take advantage of the Skype tutorial you will benefit from the knowledge of our trainer and be able to practise your speaking and listening skills in a real life context.
When you send a recording for evaluation, you can also book a Skype tutorial with some of our teachers.
In the tutorial the teacher will assess you on the basis of the activity you completed for evaluation. You will speak mainly on elements related to vocabulary, pronunciation, advice, etc...
Once you have booked a Skype tutorial on the payment page one of our teachers will email you to organize a day and time that is suitable for both parties.
The duration of the Skype tutorial to discuss your evaluation and feedback in more detail is 30 minutes.
Yes, as well as evaluating recordings we also correct texts in English.
It's very simple, you just need to write or paste your text in this section and press the send button.
You will receive the text correction both in PDF and interactive format, as well as additional comments from one of our teachers.
If you prefer to receive your corrections with comments in a word document please specify this by sending us an email at SpeechRevision.
There is not an exact turnaround, given that it really depends on the length and complexity of the text.
The minimum number of words you can send is 250.
We have organized our activities into two section B1/B2 for Intermediate learners and C1/C2 for advanced learners.
These codes are from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Of course you can. These activities have been arranged into this order only as a guideline.
There may be some crossover. For example, during the first part of many speaking exams regardless of the level the candidate is required to answer questions about themselves and personal experiences.
Our activity "考官" is in B1/B2 but can be useful for any level.
Many speaking exams include a question and answer part at the start of the exam in which the candidate has to give personal information and talk about personal experiences.
This activity is arranged into different section to make your practising easier.
A picture tells a thousand words. A picture is a great stimulus to practise speaking. With a simple image a person can use descriptive language, present tenses and opinions. Besides, human beings are more and more visual.
Therefore, when designing our activities we kept this in mind by choosing interesting and impactful images. PET exam takers will know that in Part 2 candidates are required to describe a picture.
You might be familiar with taboo as a family board game in which each person with a card must describe a word without using the other words on the card.
In fact it is also a great activity to improve language a skills. It helps one express their ideas more effectively and clearly, practise relative pronouns and word retrieval skills.
Situations is an activity designed to be practised in pairs. Of course, if you wish to submit a recording based on this activity you could either practise with a partner or play the role of two people! Many speaking exams involve paired speaking tasks.
This activity is similar to Part 3 of the PET exam but more advanced learners can simple use more complicated language. It is a great activity to practise negotiating in English.
This activity is advanced because it requires a higher level of language than describing an image. Users need to draw parallels between aspects of the different pictures whilst at the same time referring to the question at the topic.
In the FCE, CAE and CPE speaking exams there are similar tasks and we have tried to create an activity which is not an exact copy of one of these but that practises the skills required in each of these tasks.
This is an activity designed to not only practise speaking skills but also listening skills. The videos are typically between 2 and 5 minutes and users have the possibility to practise their abilities to summarize and paraphrase as well as to talk about a topic at length.
The TOEFL speaking exam also has a part where candidates must listen and then talk about what they have heard. Furthermore, to advance in your language learning it is useful to have a good vocabulary on a variety of different topics.
Quotes and idioms enrich one's language and thus it's always useful to know a quote or two in English!
This activity requires the user to speak at length about one of the given quotes. It gives the user the opportunity to speak at length and develop their own ideas.
Whilst SpeechRevision focuses on those individuals wishing to take exams in English we also appreciate that other individuals may need to improve their English in order to better communicate in a professional context.
Naturally, some of the content here may be useful for a business English exam but we also thought about those preparing for a job interview in English or those that regularly give presentations, etc...
In this section you will be able to send your own text or audio recording of you speaking in English. It does not need to be related to one of our activities. This is perfect if you need to give a talk, lecture or presentation on a specific topic.
Perhaps you have your own material or activity for a speaking exam or our activities to do not exactly resemble the type of question you need to respond to and wish to receive an evaluation of your speaking.
The maximum recording time of "Free speech" is 5 minutes, meaning that the cost will be in line with our 5 minute activities. If your recording is longer than 5 minutes please send us separate files.
You can find more information on our price page.
